Have you ever been in a situation in your work environment where you didn't know how to proceed and just needed some advice? Have you ever needed some direction on which road to head down on your career path?

Have you been in the work force for a number of years and looking for an outlet to share your knowledge and experience?

A MENTOR is defined as a trusted counselor or guide. SAAP is now offering a brand new program that will meet the needs listed above and so much more! Below are some FAQ's.

What is a mentor?

A mentor is defined as a person who is seen as a trusted counselor or guide. For the purposes of this program, a mentor will be someone available to talk to about work related/personal issues while offering a non-objective perspective on related topics.

Why should I become a mentor?

  • Build your leadership skills - Develop your ability to motivate and encourage others. This can help you become a better manager, employee, and team member.

  • Improve your communication skills - Because you will be working with a mentee that may have come from a different background or environment, you will find new ways to communicate more effectively with your mentee and others.

  • Learn New Perspectives - By working with someone less experienced and from a different background, you can gain a fresh perspective on things and learn a new way of thinking.

  • Advance Your Career - Refining your leadership skills can strengthen your on-the-job performance.

  • Gain Personal Satisfaction - It can be very personally fulfilling to know that you have directly contributed to someone's growth and development.

Why should I become a mentee?

  • Gain Valuable Advice - SAAP Mentors can offer valuable insight into what it takes to succeed or get ahead in your career.

  • Develop your knowledge and skills - You will receive help in identifying skills and expertise you need to succeed.

  • Improve your communication skills - You will learn how to communicate more effectively, which can further help you in your work and personal life.

  • Build your network - Your SAAP mentor can offer an opportunity to expand your existing network of personal and professional contacts. SAAP also provides free monthly meetings that provide personal and professional training and networking opportunities. You will already be a part of a professional networking organization by being a SAAP mentor or mentee.

  • Advance your career - Your SAAP Mentor will help you stay focused and on track in your career through advice, skill development, networking and so on.

How do I sign up??

The sign up process is simple. Send your request to our email at saapnetwork@gmail.com. We will then send you a questionnaire based on which program you choose (mentor/mentee). Using the questionnaire you complete, we will match you up with a mentee that would best benefit from what you have to offer, or vice-versa.

What will the program require of me?

  • When you sign up, a questionnaire will be sent to you to fill out answering questions that will help us find the best mentor/mentee match for you.

  • There will be an initial meet and greet for all mentee and mentors.

  • You will meet with your mentee/mentor once a month for at least one hour face to face.

  • There will be weekly updates via phone, email or additional meeting (Methods of communication will be established by what suits the mentor best).

  • Monthly mentor meetings will be provided to allow an opportunity for all mentors to meet, share mentor materials and provide mentor training.
