SAAP donates to Interfaith Health Services

SAAP began the season of celebration by collecting canned goods for Interfaith Health Services. We collected over 700 items for the pantry! Great job everyone!

Boomtown Toastmasters would like to congratulate Wendy Brown. Brown was recently awarded the Toastmasters Competent Communicator Silver and Competent Communicator Gold. These are the two highest completions a Toastmaster can be awarded. Brown has been a member of Boomtown Toastmasters since 2006. She had held several board positions in the local club. Brown has also served as the Area A3 Governor for South Arkansas. Toastmasters is an educational organization that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of helping members improve their communication, public speaking, and leadership skills.

Sonya Stookey, right, with Therma-Flite, talks with potential employees during the ACE Expo & Job Fair in the activities building at the Union County Fair Grounds on Tuesday. The event, hosted by the Arkansas Department of Career Education, in conjunction with Arkansas Rehabilitation Services, offered help to area residents to learn more about the agency’s services in order to im prove their employment outlook and for job seekers to meet local employers who are ready to accept applica tions. The Arkansas Department of Workforce Services also had its mobile unit on site, which provided free com puter and Internet access to those seeking jobs.
